If You Want a Baby, Valentine’s Day Hits Different

Valentine’s Day can feel different when you want a baby.
It’s not just about flowers.
It’s not just about dinner reservations.
It’s not even just about being in love.
It’s about time.

Another year passing.
Another February 14th.
Another reminder that what you really want isn’t a date — it’s a partner to build a life and a family with.

If you are anything like I was before I decided to have my baby-as a single woman opting to become a solo mom by choice five years ago-you are likely sick of all the first date small talk. You just want to skip to the conversation where you figure out if they want to procreate, how many kids they actually want, what kind of parent they will be, and what their timeline looks like.

I’ve worked with singles for over two decades, and I can tell you this: the people who want children experience Valentine’s Day differently. There’s a quiet urgency beneath the surface. A grief that doesn’t always get spoken out loud.

You might find yourself thinking:
How many more years do I have?
Did I waste time on the wrong person? (Guilty as charged here!)
Should I have started sooner?
Will this happen for me?

If that’s you, I want you to know something important.

There is nothing wrong with you for wanting this deeply.
And there is nothing desperate about dating intentionally. We humans are wired for connection. And even in today's crazy, uncertain, expensive world, there are many people who desire to become parents.

Most want partners. Some don't. Honestly, it’s courageous no matter what way you do it. People told me how brave I was when I made this lifestyle choice to pursue my baby dream, but I didn't fully grasp that until I experienced the ups and downs of solo parenting. Raising a human isn't for the faint of heart--with or without a partner.

Having any type of intimate relationship requires strength.

It takes strength to say:
I don’t want casual.
I don’t want confusion.
I don’t want to waste another year swiping left and right.
I want clarity.
I want alignment.
I want a partner who also wants a family, and I want that to be something we figure out early on.

Truthfully, this is the work that motivates me most.
More than anything, I am driven to help singles who genuinely want to become parents have children and find lasting love. When someone tells me they’re ready for partnership and family, I feel an enormous sense of purpose. They do not have all day. And the decision of who to have-or not have- a child with seems more important than anything. I am up for the challenge of helping them figure this out, because I know that if they don't at least try, they will likely face deep regret.

That’s exactly why I designed my matchmaking and dating coaching services at Rachel Russo Relationships to be focused and efficient.

No endless swiping.
No “let’s see where this goes” situationships.
No wasting precious time on people who aren’t aligned with your vision.

This is strategic dating.
Intentional introductions.
Thoughtful vetting.
Real conversations about timelines and values.

If building a family is your priority, your dating strategy should reflect that.
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a reminder of what hasn’t happened yet.

It can be the moment you decide to do things differently, so, you too, can soon be making these perfectly-imperfect-heart-shaped pancakes that I make for my precious daughter every Feb 14th.

If you are serious about becoming a parent and you’re ready to approach love with intention, please send me an email at [email protected]

And if this isn’t you, but you know someone single quietly carrying this hope in their heart, please feel free to forward this email or connect us. Referrals mean more than you know.
