People look for relationship advice in all kinds of places.
They sit down to get a hair cut and tell their stylist all about their relationship drama. They share their sob story about their ex over tequila shots with the stranger standing next to them at the bar. They call psychic hotlines to find out if their spouse is cheating on them with the cleaning lady. They write in to advice columns to figure out who should be asking who out on a date. They drive their friends and family crazy with endless text updates and questions about what they could do to get what they want from the person who seems incapable of giving it to them. They go on retreats in random places in California to gain perspective. And they hire me, of course, to be their voice of reason. Some of the best relationship advice that I give is the very relationship advice that I get! Ultimately, it all comes down to following the wisdom of good ol' William Shakespeare: "To thine own self be true." So, there you have it. This is what I consider to be #TheBestRelationshipAdviceEver If it doesn't feel good to you, if it doesn't honor who you are at your core, and if it makes you lose even an iota of self-respect: Just. Don't. Do. It. Figuring out what it means to be true to yourself can be tough. But trust me, once you do it, things get easy! Need helping discovering the truth in your love life?
